The Red Daylily scientific known as “Hemerocallis” comes in an assortment of varieties, all different coloes.
The leaves of the flower are long and slender. Colors range from a dark to light red; some include golden tones in the center. The flower can reach a height of 3 feet and spread between 18 inches to 24 inches. The growing season is mid to late summer, and it does well in planting zones 3 – 9. Planting time for the flower is between early fall or spring. Full sun with partial sun/shade is the best location to achieve success. Chalk and Clay soil along with well-drained ground is preferred. They are an easy-care flower which can thrive in the city or a conventional garden prospering in containers or patios. It attracts butterflies and hummingbirds. There are many uses for it such as flower beds, borders and edging. These flowers ARE NOT NATIVE but still make beautiful addions to your landscape. Red Daylily can also be used at ground cover.
