The Maidenhair fern, Adiantum pedatum, is a beautiful addition to any shaded garden. The graceful green foliage grows best in moist well-drained areas. Its genus name Adiantum translates to “non-wetting” and is referring to the fronds’ ability to shed rainwater without becoming wet whatsoever. This plant is sometimes used for aromatic oil in hair shampoos thus the name "maidenhair."
