Product Description
Red Oak Tree - Quercus Rubra
Northern Red Oak is a hardy tree that boasts bright red leaves each fall. Also known as Quercus rubra, this tree is found frequently in urban areas because of its low maintenance and durability. Unlike other oaks, this tree produces small acorns which make it an extremely low-debris ornamental plant. It can reach heights up to 90 feet in natural surroundings but is more likely to reach a maximum height of 70 feet in residential areas. Pruning is not necessary once the tree is established. Likewise, extra watering is not needed. The tree is drought tolerant and thrives in all types of soil. Its deep roots make it highly adaptable to landscapes and gardens. The tree is found as far south as Florida, so don't be fooled by its regional name. Hardiness Zones 5 through 8 are suitable for this deciduous tree.
Leaves turn gorgeous shades of deep to vibrant red in the fall, and they provide thick, green shade in the summer. In the winter months, the tree's variegated grey bark draws interest, but the tree's high branches and rounded crown steal the season. Whether branches are covered with snow or standing bare, this tree adds dignity and strength to a landscape.
Northern Red Oak is a beautiful fall foliage tree.
Oak trees are majestic and breath taking. The deep roots help them to withstand harsh storms and winds. Their sheer size alone makes them one of the most famous shade trees available on planet Earth.
This tree is a rather fast growing tree for an oak. It can reach heights of up to 60-75 feet.
The Red Oak is great planted in full sun.
When it reaches a mature height it offers much loved shade, and has attractive color during Fall.
The Northern Red Oak is shipped bare root.
